The latest advancement in LASIK surgery has come to Jenkins Eye Care.  Continuing our commitment to provide Hawaii with the latest in eye care technology, Dr. Tyrie Jenkins has integrated Contoura topography-guided LASIK into her practice and it is the 14th installation in the United States.   A technology that has been available in Europe, it was just approved in the US in 2016.   Topography-guided LASIK was developed to fine tune the already very successful wavefront-optimized treatments.  Using advanced analysis of the cornea using the Vario topolyzer, topography-guided treatments integrate subtle corneal irregularities, refractive error and corneal shape.   Treatment of these higher order aberrations can lead to improved night vision and less glare.  In the FDA studies over 60% of patients achieved 20/16 vision with 92% of patients seeing 20/20 or better at 13 months.   We are happy to report that all of our first cases were 20/20 or better at one day post op and these patients spanned different ages and refractive error.   Topography-guided LASIK is available at this time for patients over 18 with nearsightedness and astigmatism.   For more information CLICK HERE.   We are thrilled to be able to offer this next level of accuracy and safety to the LASIK space.
